Aaron Copland - Appalachian Spring

Geoffrey Moull conducts a performance of Aaron Copland’s ‘Appalachian Spring’ in the original chamber orchestra version for 13 instruments.

Aaron Copland- The Promise of Living

From his opera The Tender Land, Copland provides for one of his most moving orchestral/choral compositions. Truly an American masterpiece.

Dmitri Shostakovich- Symphony No. 1 (Allegro)

Shostakovich was 19 when he composed this symphony. 19! Some kids are still freshmen by the time they reach that age. Anyways, this was featured in Phantom’s 1996 show and we can clearly see why. Such ‘Defiance’.
